Living in tension for a long time, improper nutrition and constant haste, lack of physical activity and simply time for relaxation is a simple way to lower our immunity and consequently to diseases. We often feel physically that the eternal rush does not allow us to gather our thoughts and relax at least for a while. We wait longingly for a vacation and think that it will be completely enough for us and take care of the problem. Is this really the case? Do we need a long vacation to stop even for a moment, and will it solve our problem of “chasing after…” and allow us to get to the essence of our anxiety? Surely a vacation, a vacation will help us a lot if we can really get away from the thoughts of work and our problems during this time. But not everyone can do this. How to learn how to relax in such a way as to maximize our regeneration and “recharge” our batteries for a longer period of time.
How do we learn to regenerate our strength in everyday life, so that we don’t waste energy and health on fighting stress? And what if we are unable to go anywhere on vacation for a long time and at the same time the problems we have to face do not allow us to sleep peacefully? Is there a way to escape from the eternal pursuit and stress? Not everything is within our control, what happens to us often surprises us and is a source of anxiety about the future, but even if we can’t change what affects us, we have influence over how we react to various situations in our lives, and how we take care of our “ABS,” our own system that doesn’t allow us to “screw up” with anxieties and thoughts that cause us fear and prevent us from logically gathering our thoughts and acting.
Various wise books teach us how to deal with stress, I myself have been exposed many times in my life to situations that clearly shook my sense of security and put to the test everything I know about relaxation and dealing with stress. Did I cope? Honestly, at different stages with varying results, but I noticed that as soon as I started applying what I know and practiced many times before in difficult moments, I saw clear results – less anxiety, the ability to concentrate, to find a way out of a situation, or even a temporary calming down. So what is the key? Something that each of us has, uses every day without even noticing it.
BREATHE
Yes, each of us breathes all the time, otherwise we could not live, so how can breathing protect us from excessive stress? What special training do we need? Simple, when we are very nervous, our breathing speeds up. So why not reverse the situation, when a stressful situation arises for us we try to calm our breathing and through this calm our emotions. Many times we are not able to immediately change what we face, but we are able to change the way we react to the situation. So is there a need for special training? In the beginning, simply calming the breath is enough. The science of Yoga is also based on working with the breath, quieting the mind. Someone long ago noticed this relationship, so it is worth using this knowledge. Simply observing the breath can already make a big difference. However, you can help yourself by using various relaxation music CDs or by choosing and listening to music you like.
Many years ago, when we still released the “Alpha 2” CD of music to synchronize the hemispheres, we used a sound similar to the sound of the sea which, when listening on headphones, went from the right channel to the left. We recommended that you try to observe your breath which flows just like the sound of the sea in the headphones. This exercise can be very helpful. However, even without having any relaxation music CD at hand, when we begin to “catch ourselves” being aware of the breath flowing within us, at least for a moment, and when, finally, in a situation that surprises or frightens us, we are the ones to calm the emotions that arise with our breath even a little, we will see a huge change in our reaction. On the cover of the album “Alpha synchro 2” is a photo of me from many years ago. I look different now, but I like myself more than I did then many years ago when I was much younger. But the problems of self-acceptance and establishing a good relationship with myself are another topic.
